How to: dress up summer denim

When it
comes to summer denim trends, you’re probably all too familiar with tight
fitting short-shorts and poorly-fitted white jeans. Not anymore. Trilogy Stores
– retailers of
cigarette leg jeans for women –  are here to show you
there is a more sophisticated way to wear denim during the warmer months, and
one that lets you team all your favourite fits with the hottest clothing trends
of the season too!

Here
are some of the key denim trends that you should be wearing this summer, to
make sure that you and your wardrobe look fresh and cool when it’s warm
outside.

Keep it straight not skinny

Why not experiment this summer?
Higher rises and jeans with a looser fit are taking over from the skinny-leg
phenomenon. Fashion is now championing a straight silhouette and a more relaxed
fit – and this is fantastic news as we move into summer where skinny legging-like
fits can often feel clingy, restrictive and uncomfortable.

Why wear them?

Cut straight from the knees, they
help to provide a similar style ankle-hugging skinny jeans; don’t worry,
they’re more forgiving, which is good if you’ve got curvy hips – fuller thighs
– and thick calves.

Styling these jeans

Through
your hips and thighs, keep the silhouette slim but not tight around your frame;
this will give you a boyfriend jean look without them feeling too loose. Our
favourite straight leg jeans this summer – the Isabelle by AG, Jacqueline by
Paige Denim and Elsa by Citizens of Humanity – all have cool, cropped legs
making them perfect worn with heels and flats alike. We’ll be styling ours with
embroidered blouses or classic shirting for a luxe yet laid-back feel.

Getting the look

In 2017, white denim jeans are still a fashionable look, but
alternatives have also become available within this category, from skinny to
more exciting cropped flares. For SS17 our preference is AG’s Isabelle. This
straight-leg jean is a more modern way to wear white denim thanks to its
high-rise and cool released hem.

The Isabelle fit

By creating loose, wispy threads
– the Isabelle fit creates a streamlined shape that creates a flattering high
rise silhouette that is a skinny fit through the hip, thigh and leg.

How to style

The
Isabelle isn’t a stiff, rigid fabric, which is often found with white denim –
making it a great every day jean. For weekends, why not style with a chambray
or colourful striped shirt tucked in for an effortless vibe. Dress up with
boho, beaded blouses or off-the-shoulder tops for a chic, statement outfit.

Getting the look

This season, the trend is vintage fabrics and authentic denims. Many brands
have brought out ‘vintage’ collections to cater to demand, blending original
fabrics with added comfort stretch for a modern feel and softer, lighter handle
for summer. This trend for heritage-feel jeans isn’t going anywhere so invest
now if you haven’t already.

Why they’re great

With
embellishments and embroidery as one of this summer’s biggest trends – the best
way to match these features is with a pair of faded true-blue jeans.
