You may be in love or lust, but there is no need to go head over heels and splash out for Valentines day.
I’ve been in a relationship for four wonderful (and sometimes very difficult) years now, so I think many in similar situations will have done the whole Valentines malarkey millions of times over and spent a bunch each year trying to make their other halves feel special, but there comes a time when you actually have to hide your purse/ wallet and think of alternative ways to spend the day/ evening with your loved one. Plus everyone loves a personal touch right?
I have been thinking long and hard about what I will do to celebrate Valentines Day and thought it would be a great idea if I’d share these cool and creative ideas with you too!
Note to reader: You DO NOT need a partner or lover to do any of these activities!

5 Creative & Inexpensive Ways To Celebrate/ Spend Valentines In The UK
Fancy a walk…
Taking in a new scenic route, wrapped up warm and stylishly is a great option which shouldn’t cost you a penny! Take our romantic London after Sundown walk, hold hands and admire beautiful scenery while learning about the city from our professional guide.
Take in some culture…
Exhibitions are a great way to take in culture whilst spending quality time with a friend or loved one and London regularly has amazing exhibitions on. Time Out are one of my best sources for art & culture news, click here to find out what’s on at the moment.
Set a gorgeous table & make dinner at home for two…
I love cooking and have a few recipes published to the blog which will work perfectly for every diet and tastebud. Cooking novice, click here. If cooking, like me, is your thang, give table dressing a go to really make the date personal to you!
Nothing embodies the word romantic quite like eating a meal by candlelight for a special occasion, so place candles everywhere – you really cant have too many, but place them carefully to avoid damage to yourself, guest(s) and home! My only tip is to steer clear of scented candles – eating spaces should be perfume free.
I can’t imagine a more exciting Valentines than spending it with your girl pals. I had some of my best Valentine’s experiences with my friends and is also a creative way to bring your friends and partners together. Why not make it a Gal-entines ‘affair’ and have friends over, play games, make food and have a great laugh!
Help someone else…
Nothing makes one feel better than helping those who need it most! Just ask Idris Elba, who is offering fans the chance to dine with him on Valentine’s Day as part of a charity appeal. Said charity, W.E. Can Lead, helps educate and empower young girls across Africa.
If you would like to download to a UK Charity, there is a whole host of organisations who need your help and one with the most relevance at this time of year are the charities fighting to end Domestic Violence, which Total Giving can guide you through.
