The most amazing thing happened to me recently…
Along with rediscovering myself after a series of unimaginable opportunities and worldly discoveries, one of my most coveted & secretive goals became available and I couldn’t resist saying…yes!
I have always loved Art and had planned to study Art History whilst in school, when this didn’t happen, I threw myself into the professional and adult world of the 9-5 rat race.
Needless to say, this was unfulfilling however the blog became my outlet for all things creative, inspiring and just out of the ordinary.

So it was with some surprise that, thanks to
said blog (I love you!), an old pal of mine got in touch and asked if I would
like to participate, i.e model, in her upcoming Our Naked Truths Life Drawing
session – sponsored by Dela
Foods & Sankofa Creative – organised by my friend Jocelyn Yeboah-Newton and attended solely by women of all ages to promote and celebrate the divine, diverse and true
beauty of women through drawing and conversation.
To say I was nervous and that the thought of standing nude in front of women I did not know, blew my mind is a serious understatement but what I did not expect was to seriously feel so comfortable in my own skin that after the first 5-10 minutes, I was not worried about the eyes that laid on me, nor of the thoughts that they may or may not have had on my body.
Instagram response from one of my favourite Illustrator Sankofa Creative‘s fan
I was emotional, yes but I felt uplifted and more assure of myself than I have felt in a long time. I still do, two weeks later on! So if that is what posting naked/ semi-naked selfies online makes people feel like then I honestly have no judgement for those who do it.
After the session, we all spoke in a circle, meditated and discussed body positives and similar topics affecting us all. I even walked away with new contacts and of course a lot of love. What I learnt is that there is nothing, absolutely nothing, more reassuring than being surrounded by women who appreciate your confidence, respect your story and applaud your skin, curves and flaws. I wish every woman can feel this feeling I and the rest of the class experienced. A safe place to confidently be your true inner self and be celebrated as just that. The real you!
To conclude this experience, I would recommend every woman sign up to receive news on the next Our naked Truths session and to discover what being apart of a sisterhood is all about.
I almost feel its too sacred to breakdown into a complete review, so if you want to know more, it’s really worth paying the small fee of £12. I mean, there are worse ways to spend a Saturday afternoon, at least you won’t regret doing this…
