Ideal Home Show 2015 Review

With one more bank holiday due this month and having enjoyed so many of them already, I thought I’d share some insight into how you too can enjoy bank holidays for years to come thanks to the Ideal Home Show! I always find time to relax on a weekend/ bank holiday, but it’s even better to get out and experience all the great events/ exhibitions London has on offer! As a huge DIY and interiors fan, I spent the bank holiday before last) at this year’s Ideal Home Show, held at the grand venue of Kensington’s Olympia, all of which was a courtesyly gifted to me by Hilary’s Blinds

For such a beautiful event and day, I took along with me my best friend (and also‘s contributing beauty writer) Kayleigh with me.

On arrival, we were absolutely stunned with how beautiful the event was presented and immediately found ourselves strutting down the green ‘grass’ catwalk before entering the building itself. For the last day of the Ideal Home Show, there was still an enormous buzz in the air and the event itself being quite populated.

Once we’d got over initial structural awe of the Olympia building as well as the shocking pink Ideal Home Show decor we headed straight over to the Hillary’s Blinds stand on the Ground floor to say hi to the team and then worked out our plan of action. This included the route in which would enable usto get around the whole show within 2 hours, as well as what stands we’d approach first in hope of some freebies and goodies. I’ll warn you now, we wasn’t lucky in securing such items, which we put down to attending on the last day and being typically late, but it was a bank holiday after all. Now if any readers did better than us, we want to hear your tips NOW ahead of the 2016 #IHS.

What I loved about the Ideal Home Show was in part the organisation which seriously cannot be faulted and the amount of different brands on show – There was even the most idyllic resting area complete with a Nexus sponsored champagne bar!

Initially I had no idea there was a food, beauty or fashion section until receiving my tickets.
We had a blast getting Mo You tutorials within the beauty section which Kayleigh was absolutely obsessed over! She is the Nail Expert if you ever need advice.

I on the other hand fell in love with a few tools for the kitchen, especially the Diablo Toasted Snack/ Sandwich Maker. This compact device not only has a sleek design and easy to use features which makes sandwich making so much fun but it also comes with an irresistible price tag of just £14.95 (however I found it even cheaper on Amazon here)! This is definitely going on my Christmas Gift Guide as its the perfect all round gift for the guys as well as new homeowner friends.

We also had a nosy at a few interiors as I’m currently working on a huge home DIY job that requires a new bed frame, sofa and other interiors, so it was great to see what is currently on offer and how home designs are changing. Take this dining room table which pulls out into a pool table! Yes an actual pool table however this is the nicest gaming table I think i have ever seen in my life.

We both came together in the food section, making wishlists of the perfect tools for our future homes over sample tastings of cheese, sweets and of course,
a little toffee vodka by Toffoc which was delicious!
