Solange Joins Team PUMA

It really does go without saying, I LOVE Solange Knowles! The girl has got style, charisma and a voice to rival many singers/ songwriters in the charts at the moment. To top it off, she is one heck of a fashion icon and fellow #browngirl Apologies for stating the obvious or for those who maybe offended, but for what its worth, she’s a great role model from what I have seen in the mainstream press and its great to recognise someone who looks like you who is also a female and multi-talented. What singer do you know who creatively directs a campaign for a mega sportswear brand – PUMA – and makes it look goooood?

Yup! You better get to liking Solange Knowles too!

Solange Knowles took creative reign of this new collaboration with PUMA by also having the campaign for star her very own, handpicked ‘IT Girls’ to model PUMA’s new styles and share their own fashion-savvy insights.

I took a little section from one of my ‘go-to’ and favourite website, Who What Wear who literally got the exclusive on this collaboration, to give you an insight into the new IT Girls of the future.

What’s your best kept shopping secret?

Eva: My mom’s advice. She is the only person who will give me an honest opinion when I’m considering a new purchase.

Jill: Thrift store shopping around Palm Beach and Miami!  Women who move down there to retire just unload their crazy designer wardrobes to the Goodwill. It’s a gold mine.

Saada: Borrowing from friends!

Who are your style icons?

Marjon: I’m inspired by so many women these days. ChloΓ« Sevigny, Solange, Diana Vreeland, Miriam Makeba, Diane Kruger, Michelle Elie. I respond to women with bite and intellect, who take chances, and seem supremely happy and secure within their own skin.

Jill: I’ve always loved Jane Birkin, Debbie Harry, and Lizzy Mercier Descloux. Right now I really into what Ursina Gysi is up to.  She has the most original style and sensibility that I’ve seen in a long time‑—a little sporty and a little ’70s, while very “next”.

What current trend can you not stand?

Saada: The lack of women of color on the runway.

Eva: As a hat enthusiast I would have to say the ongoing trend of hatless-ness!

Marjon: Peplum tops. It’s been done.

If your closet could talk, what would it ask for this season?

Saada: A new winter coat! One that is versatile, can be worn with jeans and a tee, but can also be dressed up.

Jill: A pair of black Prada Spazzolato Fume Leather Sandals.

Marjon: All things Carven! She wants their entire Fall 2013 collection, and then some.

How amazing are these girls? Get to following them asap – I’m sure you will not be disappointed and please leave your comments below on what your favourite shoe style is? Mine is the Sky Wedge Reptile Sneaker as seen on Eva & above.
