Getting sports-ready with athleisure

Fashion and comfort have long been seen as separates,
but athleisure is here to change all that. Now, we can step out in trainers, leggings, loose-fitting tees and even jogging bottoms all in the name of our favourite EVER trend.

Of course, to nail the trend, you will need to put some effort in. It’s not like we can crawl out of bed, throw on our trackies and expect to look like Kate Moss. While the basics of this look are comfort classics, you’ll need to style it right to create a perfectly polished look. Here, we explain the basics of Athleisure to take your look from slob to sass.

The style staples

To create the sports-luxe look demanded by athleisure, you’ll need the following

A jacket — the bomber jacket is here to stay, but why not experiment with other jacket styles to amp up your look! I love underwear as outerwear so a silky robe is my go to for a luxe and feminine look. The loose-fitting, jacket shape is a must for creating this look. For an even more feminine look, choose fresh pastel shades.

Leggings or joggers — ditch the old gym wear and invest in a pair of branded leggings or jogging bottoms that are tapered and cuffed for a close fit.

Throw in tailoring - Tailored athleisure is the next trend to creep up on us. I add a little luxury to my look with tailored shorts, which are also perfect for the summer.

Sports tops — cropped tops and hoodies are perfect when paired with a pair of leggings or jogging bottoms and bomber jacket. If you’re not quite ready to show off your tum, opt for a loose-fitting sports jersey with mesh detailing.

Trainers — feet rejoice! Heels are a no-no for this trend; it’s all about the trainers. Michael Kors trainers – available from Daniel Footwear — are the perfect choice, with a selection of sports-inspired styles to help you effortlessly conquer this look.
