Colour Matched at @coverfx

Last week Wednesday I was kindly invited to a Blogger Event to receive a colour match solely using products by cosmetics brand Cover FX.

Although I was delighted to receive the invitation, I have to admit that I wasn't previously aware of the brand (yes, really) and that I was slightly apprehensive about getting colour matched. When it comes to trying new foundations and concealers, I usually purchase via recommendations of close friends and family not the general sales assistant. I find that within the UK (I cannot speak for other countries) the selection for darker skin tones is extremely limited, although getting better and mostly that receiving a colour match from a make up artist who isn't of a similar skin tone to myself unreliable as they usually just want to make a quick sale.

In no way, shape or form am I aiming to offend but I have had plenty of experiences walking into the likes of Selfridges, House of Fraser, Debenhams and Harrods for example and walking out with products that do not match my skin tones which have ended with me looking like a ghost & positively stupid. Believe me, I have receipts & pictures to prove it!

For me, if they look like me, they are more likely to know what beauty products will suit me best. I maybe wrong but that is my opinion. You wouldn't get your hair done by a stylist whose hair-do looks like a bird's nest would you?
Basically purchasing new foundations, powders and  concealers has never been an exciting shopping experience. That is until now!

Cover FX was actually created for people with real skin disorders and irritations and patented by colours created for actual patients hence why products like Cover FX Mattifying Primers come with a built in Anti Acne Treatment and are loved by reality TV Stars, The Kardashians.

Upon arriving to the Cover FX counter within House Of Fraser, Oxford Circus I was met by an extremely well dressed, CoverFX Rep called Derek Selby who began discussing Cover FX products in fine detail whilst swamped by a group of interested and varied young women. After his insightful introduction, I was handed a flute of fruit juice which I later swapped to prosecco and introduced to Make Up Artist, Allison Edwards who kindly led me through my first colour match with Cover FX.

The Colour FX Tutorial with Allison Edwards

Step 1: Allison cleansed my skin lightly and proceeded into the first steps of preparing ones skin.

Step 2: To ensure a smooth and lasting coverage, Cover FX Mattifying Primer was used sparingly over my face using a clean Cover FX Concealer Brush.

Step 3: N Deep Cream Concealer was used all over my face using another concealer brush.
(Please see the image below for coverage)

Step 4: Allison began to set the cream concealer with Matt Loose Setting Powder in Light.

Step 5: Apply N70 Creme (Mineral) Foundation using Cover FX's new & exclusive Foundation Brush (below)to obtain an even foundation coverage.

Step 6: Using Cover Fx's Powder Brush, N70 Matt Setting Powder Foundation was then used to set the creme foundation. The Powder Foundation was patted on to the skin then was retouched (using the same brush) and a buffing type technique to capture the moisture in the foundation.

Please note: This is a lot of make up and I would not recommend wearing this much make up everyday. Allison advises, if this is too heavy, after using concealer, cover the face with foundation powder but she strongly recommends going one shade lighter. In my case, N60 Powder would be the appropriate choice.

Everyday Use: Cover FX's Concealer & Powder

Step 7: On request Allison began contouring the prepped face using Cover FX's Bronzed FX in Gold, applying the shimmery bronzer to slightly lower than my cheekbones (when smiling)

Step 8: Earthy tones from Mint Tint Lip Glass in Merlot was used to finish off my 'red carpet make up'

Ta Daaaa!

I was so pleased with the Cover FX products team, I had to get a post written asap! Please head down to your nearest Cover FX counter and give it a go!

When CP Met @PAIGEDENIM #TBT

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you will have seen that some weeks back, I had the pleasure of meeting the founder of Paige Denim. Yes that's right, I interviewed Paige Adams-Geller, Founder of PAIGE DENIM & lost the interview (2018 update).

I love Paige Denim so it was truly a milestone in my blogging career because not only was I able to ask Paige, a number of burning questions I hadaccumulated  since stepping into my first pair of Hoxton Skinny jeans, but I also seized the opportunity to meet and pose for cute pictures with Fashion Blogger, Charlotte of THEFASHIONGUITAR!!!
All of the above took place at Selfridges Denim studio which you must visit!! Its a must!
Paige Adams-Geller was born, raised and still is a true Los Angeles girl. Her collection which formally debuted in is not only at the forefront of the luxury denim industry, but she is a woman who really knows how women want to feel, look and wear their jeans. To top it all off, she's beautifully inspirational and completely down to earth.

LIVE @XBoxUK Presents #TheMusicRoom

Earlier this week I was invited down to one of London's creative hotspots, The Hospital Club to experience a live filming event hosted by Xbox featuring performances by some of the hottest & current talents in music.

I was completely rocked and swayed by the likes of Tom Odell, who I caught daydreaming whilst the official camera's weren't rolling...(Sorry Tom)

Loved the vocal depths of MS MR's lead singer Lizzy Plapinger

But realistically, what kind of fashion blogger would I be if I attended an event without reporting back on style I spotted?

Miles Kane surely ticked that box for me and completely had it going on! Wearing a tailored beige suit with vintage looking, leather loafers, the rocker seriously has his style credentials in check.
Look out for him at Glastonbury this weekend and at next season's London Collections: Men. He's bound to be a new UK Style Icon.

Presenter Laura Jackson looked gorgeous! Wearing a Bella Freud navy, 1970 sweater teamed with a Black, PVC lookalike, split skirt, the presenter certainly turned heads. I can't wait to see what she's spotted in next.

If you want to catch #themusicroom performances from Monday evening catch it in my video on YouTube here
If you are a Xbox Live Gold Member log in and view #themusicroom via the Xbox Dash

*Please let me apologise and publicly bash the iPhone4s right now for the images posted in this blog post. I will be upgrading my imagery very soon!*

PROFESSOR GREEN X PUMA 2013

Last week I was invited and attended Professor Green's new 2013 clothing launch alonsigde sportswear giants PUMA who I'm increasingly becoming a fan of.

Dare I say it? Move Over Nike!

The event held at The Oval Space in Bethnal Green, London was a pleasant and welcomed change from the sportswear events held typically in Shoreditch and my gosh was it hot!!

The collection which proceeds 'with a nod to festivals, sun and the great outdoors' celebrates Professor Green's clean look alongside PUMA's continuation of collection based characters with 2013's Summer collected focused on the Honey Badger.

Professor Green tells me "The Honey Badger is relentless, thus here we have our second season. I'd tell everyone how excited I'm about them seeing the collection but I'm more excited about seeing them wear it! Not least of all women in the Honey badger vests...'

With that I leave you with trend led collection, featuring a satin bomber jackets & backpack by PROFESSOR GREEN X PUMA, available from JD Sports, ASOS and Footasylum from 19th July 2013 and a little word to PUMA - PRO included me in the latter statement. Summer's nearly here!

Chime For Change - The Highlights

If you missed out on Saturday's Chime For Change concert in Twickenham, founded by fashion house Gucci, you missed out big time!

With hotly anticipated performances from the likes of Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, Florence and The Machine, Iggy Azalea, Rita Ora & JLo, no to mention the Queen of all headlining acts, Beyonce hit the stage along with a surprise guest, none other than husband Jay Z!
The crowd and myself included went absolutely wild, for the super musical couple who even shared a rare display of affection which I quickly noted to my concert guest.

Other loved up couples who attended the show included newly weds Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds who looked spiffingly good!

My main highlights from the concert has to be learning of the injustices & abuse to women and girls worldwide which often goes unnoticed, this has made me want to help in someway shape or form.

The others include Madonna telling the excitable crowd to stop and "listen to what (I) have to say, John Legend looking dapper in his Gucci navy & orange micro dot suit, Mary J Blige stunning the crowd with her old school rendition alongside JLo, Timbaland replaying tunes from previous successes with the likes of Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake and last but very not least, Florence and The Machine who never fails to spell bind me with her dazzling and supernatural performances.

CHIME FOR CHANGE, FOUNDED BY GUCCI, IS A NEW GLOBAL CAMPAIGN TO RAISE FUNDS AND AWARENESS FOR GIRLS' AND WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT.
CHIME FOR CHANGE serves to convene, unite and strengthen the voices speaking out for girls and women around the world. We focus on three key areas: EducationHealth and Justice.
CHIME FOR CHANGE is powered by Catapult, the first crowd-funding site where people can make real change happen for girls and women. Through Catapult, nonprofit organizations post their projects and people can find and fund the issues that speak to them the most.

If you wasn't able to make the concert, catch up and create your own highlights by watching the coverage on the BBC and help support #CHIMEFORCHANGE by clicking here

Prey Of London Go Digital

http://www.preyoflondon.com

I'm absolutely loving the digital inspiration behind the new Prey Of London SS13 collection, which actually takes it's inspiration from the wild, with its forested prints, embellishment, feathers and animal skins.

Surprisingly, despite this being the first time I've come across Prey of London, the brand is actually stocked at a number of retailers including ASOS, the gorgeous Love KR Boutique in Kensal Rise and also online here

What more could you ask for with a spring summer collection, ripped denim, studded leather, maxi dresses, super skinny jeans and exaggerated silhouettes?

Prey of London's screams 'luxe rock' for Summer 2013
